As business owners and entrepreneurs, we are often saddled with the myth that we are the job creators—the little engines that grow the economy.
I would like to suggest that we take that on—not just as a talking point—but really live in it. Let’s begin now to work on creating the path forward—even if we’re standing on broken business models.
What am I suggesting we do?
Let me say straight up, I don’t know. I’m seeing a lot of posts and articles that reassuringly tell me that there are just three things… or 10 things… or 27 things… that businesses should do to survive, recover, thrive (pick one) in response to COVID-19.
I don’t really know what it is gonna take for each of us—for our businesses, our economy—to recover from this. I think we can start to find out, together!
The most important things we can do now is to begin to speak candidly about the changes we are witnessing; to begin to explore the assets we have access to—both selfishly and collaboratively; and to communicate with each other about the potential for building a strong sustainable response today and for the future.
What do you think? What are your assets? Where do you think we’re going?
